The techno duo GEIGEN was formed in San Fransisco in the fall 2018, where Gígja and Pétur’s paths crossed. They discovered that both of them had quit playing the violin after many years of training due to stagnated music education system. Still the violin had a big impact on their lives and they shared the interest to bring the instrument back into their creative work.

GEIGEN rebels against the classical image of the violin, it is the need to break out of traditional systems, embraces the violin and attempts to bring it into the future.

 

Creating translucid concert experiences called The Geigen Galaxies, they voyage outside the galaxy with the mighty sounds of the violin which morph into electronic waves and stardust transforming the space into a blackhole and transports the audience to another dimension.
